Getting to Chamonix

The closest airport is Geneva (GVA), which is about 1 hour away from Chamonix by shuttle or car. Lyon (LYS) is also within reach, about 2 hours away by car.

Once in Chamonix, a car is not required. The town is very walkable with ride shares and public transportation readily available.

Aiguille du Midi

Take a cable car up to the top of one of the largest peaks of Mont Blanc for spectacular views of not only the French Alps, but also the Swiss and Italian Alps. On the way back down, get off at the mid-way point and enjoy a drink at The Plan de l'Aiguille.

Explore the Town

Walking around the town center of Chamonix is one of the best things to do - it’s picturesque and filled with shops, restaurants, and bars.

The Mer de Glace

The largest glacier in France accessible by the Montenvers Train, which departs from the town center.
